Misfortunes from Lanzhou to Xining

Problems on the road

We arrive in Lanzhou, a city filled with people and modern buildings everywhere. The people are physically different than in Beijing. In front of the place, there is a large gold statue of a horse. We walk to the car, and we decide to eat once we arrive in Xining, our final destination in order to drive mostly while it’s still day. In the beginning, we drive normally and keep on singing until the car stops and we have to get out. We understand that there isn’t any more water and that the ventilators that cool the motor are broken. The situation is tense. Night is falling. We are far from everything. Dad and Yang Dong go down to get water from the river, but that only gets us a few kilometers further and I fall asleep exhausted. Two hours later, they wake me up to go into another car that will take us to Xining. We arrive at the hotel; drop off our luggage and go out to eat. At the restaurant, we bump into a bunch of young people that drank a little too much since Asians lack enzymes that eliminate alcohol. As a result, they get drunk a lot quicker. They are young dancers that came to celebrate. We go back to our room, I lie down from exhaustion, and I fall asleep. It’s 4 in the morning.
